St. Andrew's Village is pleased to announce the appointment of Cheyne Chalmers as our new Chief Executive Officer, effective June 3, 2025.
Ms. Chalmers brings exceptional healthcare leadership experience to St. Andrew’s Village, having most recently served as CEO of Ryman New Zealand, where she successfully led one of the country’s premier senior living organisations. Her impressive career includes executive roles at Monash Health, where she served as Executive Director of Residential and Support Services and Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer. Her extensive experience with District Health Boards further enhances her understanding of the comprehensive healthcare needs of seniors.
“We are delighted to welcome Cheyne to the St. Andrew’s Village family,” said Sarah Hipkiss, Board Vice-Chairperson. “Her demonstrated commitment to excellence in senior care, combined with her forward-thinking approach to healthcare innovation, makes her the ideal leader to guide our community into the future while honouring our traditions of exceptional care.”
Ms. Chalmers will succeed Andrew Joyce, who has led St. Andrew’s Village with distinction for 20 years and is departing to pursue other opportunities. To ensure a smooth transition, Mr. Joyce will work closely with Ms. Chalmers as she steps into the role.
“I am honoured to join the dedicated team at St. Andrew’s Village”, said Ms. Chalmers. “The organisation’s reputation for providing outstanding care and fostering a vibrant community is well-deserved. I look forward to building on this strong foundation while exploring new opportunities to enhance the lives of our residents.”
St. Andrew’s Village will host several events in the coming months to bid farewell to Mr. Joyce and welcome Ms. Chalmers. These celebrations will provide opportunities for residents, family members, staff, and community partners to meet our new CEO.

St Andrew's Village Celebrates International Recognition at Prestigious Eldercare Awards
We are delighted to announce that St Andrew’s Village has once again achieved international distinction at the prestigious Ageing Asia Eldercare Innovation Awards in Singapore. Competing against more than 350 organisations from across the Asia Pacific region, St Andrew’s Village was recognised as a finalist in six categories and secured two remarkable wins:
- Operator of the Year – Residential Aged Care
- Excellence in Employee Wellbeing
These accolades underscore our unwavering commitment to excellence in senior care and reflect our continuous innovation in enhancing the quality of life for our residents, staff, and volunteers.
A particularly significant moment during the ceremony was the special individual honour conferred upon our CEO, Andrew Joyce, who made history as the first New Zealander to receive the esteemed ‘Ageing Asia Global Ageing Trailblazer’ award. This prestigious recognition celebrates Andrew’s exceptional contributions as one of the world’s most influential thought leaders, driving innovation and transforming the future of aged care.
“These awards are a testament to the dedication of our entire team,” said Andrew. “I am immensely proud of all our staff and volunteers who demonstrate extraordinary commitment every day, not only in providing superior care but also in creating an environment where our residents truly flourish.”
